AN OVERVIEW OF DOUBLE EYELID SURGERY
Dr. Sadati will begin the blepharoplasty procedure by making precise incisions in the upper eyelids. To ensure discreet results, he will take special care to ensure each incision is well hidden within the natural contours of the eyes. From there, Dr. Sadati will remove excess fat and skin from the eyelids, before placing very fine sutures to close the incisions and form the desired creases. A relatively quick procedure, double eyelid surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia and typically lasts between one and three hours.
It is important for patients to be aware that there is a substantial recovery period associated with blepharoplasty. In the first few days following surgery, swelling and bruising is to be expected and should subside within one week. To ensure a swift recovery, you will be directed to lubricate the sutures with ointment, keep the area clean, apply ice to reduce swelling, elevate the head at all times and avoid strenuous activity for at least one week following the procedure.
